As we slowly Move Towards the middle phase of the tournament where teams are going to complete their 6/7 Matches in the next few days, the 2 South Franchises will look to win the Contest and better their chances for the playoffs. As of now CSK looks in a good position from 3 wins in 5 games and SRH has 2 in 5 games but 1 win can make it 3 wins in 6 games for both teams. So it will be quite an interesting contest b/w the 2 teams. Chennai with there Power packed batting order where Mahendra Singh Dhoni is playing 8 will go all out vs a very good Hyderabad attack consisting of Swing Bowler Bhuvi – hit-the-deck bowler Jansen and the spin options like Rashid and Sundar which will help Spinners.

Team Preview

Chennai Super Kings

CSK coming with a nail-biting win vs RCB at Chinnaswamy will like to continue their dominance in their den Chepauk. The team in yellow is like Demigod in the home conditions as history suggests as well they have good spinners currently also i.e Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Theekshana. However, in the last game, Rajasthan trapped them irrespective of the fact that Dhoni played a blinder in the end. Ruturaj and Conway will try to give good starts as they have batting till 10 the form both openers are In they themselves know the importance of maximising powerplay in Chepauk.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad will look to earn the points in this southern derby encounter. They have a poor record vs CSK and are in the bottom 3 for quite a good time now. Harry Brook will be the key for them. Mayank needs to fire as soon as possible coz Hyderabad has Abhishek Sharma too as an opener. Their best batter is Rahul Tripathi who looks to dominate anything coming in front of him with the maturity of Markram who plays according to the situation. The swing bowler and the powerplay specialist of the franchise i.e Bhuvi and Sundar will be key for bowling. A very very important call on Umran Malik might be Playing Tomorrow. Chepauk can make the contest even with a flat wicket.

Probable Playing XI

Chennai Super Kings: Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c & wk) Maheesh Theekshana, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Tushar Deshpande

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (c), Abhishek Sharma, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Henrich Klaasen (wk), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Mayank Markande

Players to Watch Out For

Ruturaj Gaikwad: With 200 runs in 5 matches, Ruturaj is the top run scorer for CSK this season. He won the Orange cap in 2021 and is in the race this time too. Gaikwad failed in the previous two games but would look to bounce back strong against SRH.

Moeen Ali: Moeen can be described as a complete package. He can bat anywhere from the opening slot and can finish the innings too. His spin bowling will also be a key at Chepauk ( At Chepauk, he has taken 6 wickets in 3 matches with an economy of just 6.6)

Washington Sundar: IPL 2023 is proved to be a very average season for him till now. Washi would look to build his confidence as his spin bowling and the game against quality spin will be major factors in deciding the result of this match.

Mayank Markande: With 6 wickets in 3 matches and an economy under 6.5, Mayank is the best bowler for SRH so far. This season is proved to be a breakthrough season for him and would aim to make a dream debut at Chepauk.

DC vs MI: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream11 Team for Match 28 of IPL 2023

Delhi Capitals are having a horrible campaign in IPL 2023 as they’ve lost their first 5 games and are yet to open their account this season. Nothing has gone their way and they’ll be eager to turn things around in this game. They have been pretty average as a batting unit with David Warner the only consistent batter but he too is not at his fluent best. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh and others have failed miserably until now. Manish Pandey has looked in decent touch.

The bowlers have been quite ineffective and that’s a big reason for their poor performance. The likes of Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, Mustafizur Rahman and others have failed to pick up wickets and they need to improve on that. Delhi will be eager to register their first win of this season.

Kolkata, meanwhile, started off well but they’ve lost their last two games and are in the 7 positions with 3 wins and 2 losses in 5 matches. Their batters are in good form with the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana scoring consistently. Andre Russell is yet to fire with the bat he’s a key batter for them. Jason Roy is expected to play this game and he can strengthen their batting.

The spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma are the main bowlers for them and their pacers have been below average until now. The likes of Lockie Ferguson, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav must step up in this game. Kolkata will look to bounce back on the winning track in this match.

Team Preview

Delhi Capitals

David Warner and Manish Pandey are the only consistent performers with the bat. Delhi is heavily dependent on their overseas players this season. The likes of Mitchell Marsh, Prithvi Shaw and others must start scoring runs. We may see one of Rovman Powell or Rilee Rossouw back in the eleven in this match. Their middle order has struggled pretty badly and it needs to rectify quickly.

They also need some consistency in the bowling department as none of the bowlers has bowled well consistently. They don’t have many options with the ball and Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel will be their key bowlers.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata’s batting is their strength. Venkatesh Iyer is leading their leading batter as he scored a brilliant century in the last game. Rinku Singh has been phenomenal while Nitish Rana has also played a couple of good knocks. Andre Russell is yet to fire and they’ll expect him to come well in this game. Jason Roy is expected to replace Rahmanullah Gurbaz in this match and he can score big on his day.

The Pacers have been very ineffective for Kolkata and they’ll heavily depend on their spinners to do well. Lockie Ferguson and Shardul Thakur will need to step up and so does Umesh Yadav.

Pitch/Venue Report

There was good assistance for the spinners in the last game against Delhi. The Pacers also did well. There will be some movement with the new ball and the spinners be in the game as well. Overall, it’ll be a balanced wicket and it may get a little easier to bat in the second innings. The average first innings score here is 177 and the chasing sides have won 52% of the games played here.

Probable Playing XI

Delhi Capitals: David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw, Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Abhishek Porel (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Khaeel Ahmed/Mukesh Kumar

Kolkata Knight Riders: Jason Roy, Narayan Jagadeesan (wk), Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana (c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Shardul Thakur, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy

Players to Watch Out For

David Warner

Warner has 228 runs in 5 games at an average of 45.60. His strike rate is on the lower side but he is the only consistent batter from Delhi and he’ll look to lead from the front in this match.

Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer scored a brilliant 104 runs in the last game. He has 234 runs to his name at an average of 46.80. Iyer has been the best batter for Kolkata and they’ll expect him to continue his good form.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel, surprisingly, has done well with the bat this season than the ball. He has scored 129 runs at an average of 25.80 and his strike rate is 165.38. He has been decent with the ball as well. Axar will be a key player for his team.

Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy has picked up 7 wickets in 5 matches and he is the best bowler for Kolkata. He has picked up 9 wickets against Delhi including a 5-wicket haul back in 2020.

Key Matchups

David Warner vs Umesh Yadav: Runs – 94, Balls – 63, Dismissals – 5

Prithvi Shaw vs Lockie Ferguson: Runs – 36, Balls – 21, Dismissals – 2

Andre Russell vs Mustafizur Rahman: Runs – 14, Balls – 11, Dismissals – 1

RR vs LSG: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream 11 Team for Match 26 of IPL 2023

It’s a clash between the top 2 teams for Match 26 of IPL 2023. Lucknow Super Giants will take on Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Rajasthan is currently at top of the table with 8 points in 5 games. Lucknow lost their last match but still managed to be at no. 2 in the points table with 6 points in 5 games.

Team Preview

Rajasthan Royals

Chasing a target of nearly 180 runs and losing the wickets of both openers under 3 overs would not be a start Rajasthan wanted. They were on the back foot but a captain’s knock by Sanju Samson made it for the Royals.

Shimron Hetmeyer was the star for RR with his 56* of just 26 balls and the knocks of Jurel and Ashwin were also helpful. Sandeep Sharma picked 2 wickets for just 25 runs earlier in the first innings. Rajasthan would be looking to continue their winning form and claim their 5th win of the season.

Lucknow Super Giants

Captain Rahul is back in form and played a good knock of 74 runs against Punjab Kings in the last match. He didn’t get much support from the other end and PBKS was able to restrict them to under 160 runs.

Bowlers put on a fighting show by taking 3 wickets for just 45 runs but the knock of Sikandar Raza and the finishing touches of Shahrukh Khan paved the way for Punjab Kings. Lucknow will be looking to make a comeback and win their 4th match of the season.

Pitch Report/Venue Report

The match would be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

  • Total Matches Played-47
  • Matches Won Batting First-15
  • Matches Won Batting Second-32
  • Average First Innings Score-158

It would be the first match of the season being played in Jaipur. The pitch will be fresh and fast bowlers can expect movement in the initial overs. There is also a good amount of bounce on the pitch and the outfield is also quick. Captains would look to win the toss and bat second citing the previous records on this ground.

Probable Playing XI

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jorel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder/Adam Zampa, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal

Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul (C), Kyle Mayers/Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Krishnappa Gowtham, Ravi Bishnoi, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Mark Wood, Avesh Khan

Players to Watch Out For

Jos Buttler

Buttler is the highest scorer for Rajasthan Royals this season with 204 runs in 5 matches. He would be eyeing his 4th fifty of the season and also on becoming the orange cap holder for the continuous second season.

Sanju Samson

After two good knocks in the first two matches, captain Sanju Samson scored continuous two ducks. A captain’s knock in the last match must have enhanced his confidence and he will look to score big against the Super Giants.

KL Rahul

After some low scores, Rahul is back in form. Lucknow may have lost the last match, but the captain’s form would be a big positive for them.
His record against each of the Royals’ bowlers is good and can score big against them once again.

Mark Wood

With 11 wickets in 4 matches, Mark Wood is the second-highest wicket-taker this season. He won the Man of the Match award for his 5 wickets haul in LSG’s first match and has picked wickets in all the matches he played.

Key Matchups

Sanju Samson vs Krunal Pandya: Runs-72, Balls-46, Dismissals-0

Sanju Samson vs Marcus Stoinis: Runs-18, Balls-12, Dismissals-2

Jos Buttler vs Krunal Pandya: Runs-53, Balls-32, Dismissals-0

Quinton De Kock vs Yuzvendra Chahal: Runs-44, Balls-39, Dismissals-6

Nicholas Pooran vs Adam Zampa: Runs-17, Balls-13, Dismissals-2

RCB vs CSK: Match Preview, Key Matchups and Dream11 Team for Match 24 of IPL 2023

Dhoni’s men come to Bengaluru to face off against RCB who are set to play their 3 consecutive home games. Both teams are level on points with 2 wins from the 4 games that they have played.

Team Preview

Royal Challengers Banglore

RCB come into this game after a comprehensive win against DC. The openers played their part yet again with another fine fifty by Virat who took apart the Delhi pacers. The roles of the batting lineup seem to be clear and put in action. Faf-Kohli is being asked to play their game and score a bulk of the runs by taking more risks as the game goes on with Maxwell as their primary spin hitter and DK as their primary place hitter. To complement and support these batsmen they are banking on 3 Indian middle-order batsmen and the 2 bowling all-rounders in Harshal and Hasaranga.

With only 200+ sr innings expected from them and being given the task to take on the left-arm spinners, RCB should benefit from taking someone like Suyash over Anuj who is more suited to perform such a role. Suyash has a lot of range with his shots and is a power hitter who can take the game on from ball 1 which is something Anuj lacks. Lomror has the power while Shahbaz has been excellent against pace. It will be interesting to see how they use Harshal and Wanindu. Both of them are good with the bat but are not big hitters. I feel RCB will continue using Harshal up top and Wanindu after DK/Shahbaz as Harshal down the order is not too valuable

The bowling has had yet another successful outing in the powerful. Taking full advantage of the initial movement, Siraj has used his seam movement to trouble the batsmen while Parnell has been very disciplined with his line and lengths. With Vyshak having a good outing, he will most likely perform a similar role to what Harshal has been doing by taking the pace off the middle in the middle overs. Harshal has had another disappointing outing as he missed his lengths and gave too many free runs to the batsmen. Wanindu had no clear idea of what lengths to operate to and this will likely be a one-time occurrence with the Sri Lankan adjusting to Chinnaswamy.

Important Factor: RCB has all the tools to succeed but is yet to figure out its batting order. Apart from their main batsmen, the other batsmen have all been deployed in the wrong positions and have clearly looked uncomfortable with their roles. Shahbaz was promoted when someone like Wanindu could have come in and dealt with spin to let Shahbaz take over the pace bowling.

Only time will tell if Harshal’s promotion has any upside. RCB will need to be smart with their order if they want to stand a chance against CSK’s spin choke in the middle overs. With 2 left-arm spinners, the onus will be on Lomror and Suyash/Anuj to take them apart and give some breathing room to the other batsmen.

Chennai Super Kings

With an extremely long batting lineup and in form Ruturaj in their XI, their fans will want a big score from them. Ruturaj has been in sensational form by taking on any bowler that comes in his way with clean cricketing strokes. The rest of their batting has been disappointing with a lot of vulnerabilities but as a unit, they gel together very well. Rahane scoring some runs will ease up pressure on Conway while the rest of the unit has been hit or miss. All of them have the potential to hit big but fail most of the time which is a spot of concern. Dhoni will look to promote himself and get some runs as he is still their best option in the death against pace. Dube and Rayudu’s performance will dictate the match result if the big guns of both teams fail. The bowling has been disappointing so far but what they bring against RCB is still very threatening.

The pace bowler has no special factor to their bowling after the injuries to Stokes and Chahar who brought something different to the table. With Pretorius set to come in for injured Magala, we can see a better death bowling performance with the South African set to lead their pace attack.

CSK’s spin-overs will decide where they stand in this game. With 12 overs of spin from Theekshana, Ali and Jadeja. Dhoni will have to replicate his past captaincy tricks to hold back this RCB lineup. Moeen has a very good matchup against Kohli and with the left-handers in the RCB XI, he should be another vital player. Theekshana in the powerplay will help slow down the openers who have been on a roll in all the games so far and it will be interesting to see who takes him on. With Kohli struggling against Moeen, we might see him take his better matchup on or we could see Faf trying to take both the spinners on in the initial few overs which will be challenging with the hard ball. Jadeja being their SLA option will be deployed against Maxi who struggles to pick up the trajectory of the ball against Jadeja.

The winner of the game will depend on whether CSK can choke the rcb lineup with their 12 overs of spin or if RCB uses Maxwell effectively and deploy their other Indian batsmen with a more clear plan.

Probable Playing XI

Royal Challengers Banglore: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Wayne Parnell, Mohammed Siraj, Vyshak Vijaykumar

Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c) (wk), Dwaine Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande

GT vs RR: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream11 Team for Match 23 of IPL 2023

Gujarat Titans will host Rajasthan Royals for Match 23 of Tata IPL 2023. Both the teams are in the top 3 of the points table at the moment. Can Rajasthan retain their top spot or will the Titans overtake them?

Gujarat won 3 out of their 4 matches till now. The only loss they suffered was the best finish from Rinku Singh (chased 28 in the last 5 balls) in Tata IPL history. Rajasthan has also won 3 of their matches and the only loss came against Punjab Kings (lost by 5 runs)

Team Preview

Gujarat Titans

Titans started their season by defeating CSK at their home followed by a win against Delhi Capitals. Rinku Singh achieved the unachievable to hand GT their first loss of the season. They are on track again by defeating PBKS.

Their batting department is led by Shubman Gill. Sai Sudarshan is having a wonderful season till now, with Saha’s striking abilities being a cherry on top. Rashid Khan is the second-highest wicket-taker so far in IPL 2023 with 9 wickets. Alzarri Joseph and Mohammed Shami also have 7 wickets to their name.

Rajasthan Royals

They won 2 out of three games by big margins. Lost to PBKS by just 5 runs and won a nail-biting thriller against CSK on the very last ball. Chahal is the purple cap holder with 10 wickets and Ashwin and Boult also have 6 and 5 wickets to their name respectively.

Yashasvi and Buttler are able to give them a huge start in 2/4 games. Captain Sanju Samson scored 40+ in the first two games but was unable to score a run in the last two matches. Shimron Hetmeyer in the middle order is a great advantage for the Royals.

Pitch/Venue Report

Narendra Modi Stadium offers a great pitch for the batters to bat on. It’s a pitch that supports fast bowlers but spinners have also been able to extract some help from the pitch. Both the games played here in IPL 2023 are high scoring with 191 as the average first innings score. Both the games are won by the team chasing.

Probable Playing XI

Gujarat Titans: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Sai Sudarshan, Hardik Pandya (C), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammad Shami, Mohit Sharma, Joshua Little

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder, Trent Boult/Kuldeep Sen, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal

Players to Watch Out For

Shubman Gill

Two 50s and a 30+ score is his performance in the current IPL season. Gill has continued his great form and is the highest run scorer for GT till now. This season, he has scored 183 runs averaging 45+ and with a strike rate of 140+.

Rashid Khan

9 wickets in 4 matches with an economy of just 7.5. He has also won one match with the bat scoring 10 runs in 3 balls. Rashid Khan has a great record against each of the Royals’ batsmen and will be the key player for GT in their 5th match.

Jos Buttler

54, 79, and 52 are his scores in the three matches he opened for Rajasthan this season. He is replicating his form from the last season and scoring runs consistently. Rashid Khan would be his biggest threat and if he manages to play him, he may score his 4th half-century of the season.

Yuzvendra Chahal

If Rashid is the second-highest wicket-taker, Yuzvendra Chahal is the purple cap holder in IPL 2023. Leaving the match against PBKS, Yuzi has performed in all other matches and would look to better his already good record against Gujarat’s batters.

Key Matchups

Hardik Pandya vs Yuzvendra Chahal: Runs-45, Balls-49, Dismissals-2

Shubman Gill vs Ravichandran Ashwin: Runs-72, Balls-47, Dismissals-0

Wriddhiman Saha vs Trent Boult: Runs-18, Balls-19, Dismissals-2

Jos Buttler vs Rashid Khan: Runs-50, Balls-72, Dismissals-4

Jason Holder vs Alzarri Joseph: Runs-50, Balls-28, Dismissals-0

Sanju Samson vs Mohammed Shami: Runs-54, Balls28-, Dismissals-1

Jos Buttler vs Alzarri Joseph: Runs-60, Balls-25, Dismissals-0

Devdutt Padikkal vs Rashid Khan: Runs-18, Balls-23, Dismissals-2

Shimron Hetmeyer vs Mohammed Shami: Runs-24, Balls-17, Dismissals-4

MI vs KKR: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream11 Team for Match 22 of IPL 2023

The Knights will lock horns with the Indians in Match 22 of the Indian Premier League 2023. KKR are coming after a loss in their previous encounter while MI finally got their first win against DC.
Overall, this has been a one-sided rivalry and the Indians have always dominated the Knights which is clearly visible from their head-to-head record where MI leads by 22-9. But the Knights have emerged victorious in their last three encounters against MI.

Team Preview

Mumbai Indians

Their season didn’t start well and their bowling seemed quite weak in absence of Jasprit Bumrah and now Archer is injured as well. But the other two overseas pacers Behrendorff and Meredith did well against DC which is a ray of hope for MI and their fans that they can still win matches and qualify in the absence of their two key pacers. Piyush Chawla has also been a great asset for MI. He has been economical in all three matches and also took 3 wickets against Delhi.

MI’s batting has been quite unstable. Only Tilak Verma has been a consistent batter. Their most explosive and dominant batter Sky hasn’t done anything so far this season. He really needs to step up and do what he has been doing for India in T20Is. However, Rohit stepped up and delivered in the last match which is a positive for the team.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Their batters look in great touch as KKR has made a 200+ total consistently in their last three matches. However, they lost their last match against the Sunrisers by chasing a humongous target of 229 where the Knights were 23 runs short. However, Andre Russell’s batting form is a major concern for KKR. He played a decent cameo against PBKS but since then his bat hasn’t spoken. His last three scores have been 0, 1 and 3.

Their bowling has been another big concern as KKR has leaked 204 and 228 runs respectively against GT and SRH. Their pacers are leaking a lot of runs in the powerplay and death overs. They really need to do better in upcoming matches as batters can’t cover up every time.

Probable Playing XI

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan(WK), Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Arshad Khan, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith/Tim David

Kolkata Knight Riders: Rahmanullah Gurbaz(WK), Narayan Jagdeesan, Nitish Rana(C), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Shardul Thakur, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Chakravarti, Suyash Sharma/Venkatesh Iyer

Pitch Report

The pitch here is more of batting-friendly and the red soil surface provides little to no help to the spinners. However, there is a good help for the pacers. But overall it’s a high-scoring pitch and anything below 180 would be easily changeable. The outfield is quick and the boundaries are short in dimensions, perfect for power hitting. It’s likely that we will see a high-scoring thriller.

Players to Watch Out For

Rohit Sharma

The hitman got back in action against the Capitals and played a brilliant knock of 65 runs off 45 balls and led his team to victory.
KKR are one of his favourite opponents in the IPL. He has scored 1020 runs against them with an average of 42.5 and a strike rate of 129.8. His role will be really crucial to get the Indians a power-packed start in this match.

Jason Behrendorff

In Archer’s absence, Behrendorff becomes the key pacer of MI. He performed well in the previous match and took the crucial wickets of Warner, Patel and Porel. Again, it’ll be his job to trouble the KKR batters who are in great form.

Nitish Rana

Be it captaincy or stabilizing the middle order, skipper Rana has performed both of these jobs really well in absence of Shreyas Iyer. Rana has been in really good form and played explosive knocks in his last two matches against GT and SRH. He has to continue a similar form against MI on Sunday to lead the Knights to another victory.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh has been in very poor form this season. He has conceded 110 runs in 12 overs and took only a single wicket. He was badly missing his length in the previous match against SRH and bowled a lot of full tosses. He really needs to make a comeback and there can’t be a better opportunity than this match as he has a great record at Wankhede. He has taken 15 wickets in 10 matches at this ground at an economy of 7.26.

Key Matchups

Rohit Sharma vs Sunil Narine: Runs – 141, Balls – 135, Dismissals – 8

Suryakumar Yadav vs Umesh Yadav: Runs – 21, Balls – 11, Dismissals – 2

Rohit Sharma vs Umesh Yadav: Runs – 144, Balls – 101, Dismissals – 5

LSG vs PBKS: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream11 Team for Match 21 of IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants will take on the Punjab Kings in their own backyard in Lucknow. Lucknow is in the 2nd position in the points table with 3 wins in 4 games. They won their last game against RCB in a nail-biting encounter on the last ball. Their batters are in good form while there is room for improvement in the bowling department.

Punjab, on the other hand, has lost the last two games and is in the 6th position with 2 wins in 4 matches. They will be eager to bounce back on the winning track. Their batters and bowlers have been inconsistent and they’ll need to fix that in this match. They are heavily dependent on Shikhar Dhawan for doing the bulk of the scoring. Matt Short did well in the last match while the likes of Prabhsimran Singh and Bhanuka Rajapaksa need to be consistent.

Team Preview

Lucknow Super Giants

KL Rahul’s poor form is a big concern for the home side in this game. Deepak Hooda too has failed to get going in the 4 games until now. Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis and Kyle Mayers are the only consistent batters for Lucknow. They’ll need their Indian batters to step up and take responsibility.

Their bowlers were very expensive in the last game. Mark Wood and Ravi Bishnoi are consistent performers with the ball. Krunal Pandya did well against the Sunrisers. Avesh Khan has been very expensive until now. Amit Mishra has picked wickets in every game he has played. Lucknow may look to bring in Quinton de Kock for this match to strengthen their batting. They are in good form as a team and will be eyeing their third consecutive win in this match.

Punjab Kings

Punjab’s batting, as mentioned earlier, is heavily dependent on Shikhar Dhawan. The other batters have a high-risk approach and they fail to put up a competitive total if their captain is dismissed early like in the last game. Matthew Short played well and it’s a great sign for the Kings. Prabhsimran Singh has 2 ducks in the last two games and he needs to make a move in this game. Bhanuka Rajapaksa looked in horrible touch and Sikandar Raza is expected to replace him in this game.

Pitch Venue Report

The pitch at Lucknow has been two-paced in both the games played here. It was very slow in the last game with a low bounce. Spinners and slow bowlers will be successful here. Batting is expected to be difficult. SRH scored 121 in the last game at this venue and Lucknow lost 5 wickets while chasing the target. Teams will prefer chasing and there may be some dew in the latter half of the game. The average first innings score here is 157 runs in the two games so far.

Probable Playing XI

Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul (c), Kyle Mayers/Quinton de Kock (wk), Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Amit Mishra/Ayush Badoni (Impact Sub) Ravi Bishnoi, Jaydev Unadkat, Mark Wood, Avesh Khan

Punjab Kings: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prabhsimran Singh, Matthew Short, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Nathan Ellis/Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

Players to Watch Out For

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 233 runs in 4 games. He’s averaging 116.50 and his strike rate is 146.54. Dhawan has been in sublime form and he will be the best batter for Punjab in this match. He was dismissed early in the last game Dhawan will be eager to score big in this one.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran will bat in the middle order for Punjab and he will bowl in the crucial phases as well. He has scored 20-30 runs consistently and was brilliant with the ball in the last game. Curran is a match-winner with both bat and ball.

Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran has scored 141 runs at an average of 47 and his strike rate is a whopping 220. He has been in red-hot form this season and is a key batter for Lucknow in the middle overs. Pooran played a match-winning knock in the last game.

RCB vs DC: Match Preview, Key Matchups and Dream11 Team for Match 20 of IPL 2023

Both teams have lost their last few games and lost some of their key players through injury. They will look at this game as the platform to come back and push for a playoff spot.

Warner’s men visit the Chinnaswamy in a day game where both sides have addressed some of their issues but still have glaring holes in their squads. DC lost a close game to the Mumbai Indians where Axar’s inning proves to be a huge positive as the handy all-rounder took the Mumbai bowlers to all parts of the ground while David Warner also hit a 50 but will be hoping to up the strike rate in the future knows as they posted a par total which MI chased with the help of some clinical finishing and good innings by Rohit.

RCB got off to a flier once again as Maxwell was back amongst the runs after his freak injury. Siraj is bringing back the form that he had while playing India with Hasaranga set to come back as the star leg spinner will look to fix RCB’s middle over issues

Team Preview

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The openers once again fired for RCB. Faf and Virat took the game on with each of them targeting different bowlers and following different paths. Kohli played some crisp drives against Avesh and took apart Wood’s high pace while Faf made up for his slow start with some big hits in the latter half of the game. The biggest positive would be in how they dealt with Krunal Pandya. Left-arm spinners often slow down the run rate and have been their middle-order maestros’ biggest weakness. Virat was the main run-getter against Krunal as he took advantage of the field placements and played along the ground to get runs. This is a huge positive as the squad has the game to on the leg spinners( Maxi and Indian batsmen in Suyash/Lomror/Anuj) and their veterans are good players of pace( Kohli, Faf and DK) essentially opening the floodgates to yet another big score. Maxwell looked rusty at first but soon played some good shots as he manipulated the field using raw power and his wrist work.

With only 4 batsmen playing a part, we don’t know if RCB has picked the correct Indian middle-order batsmen. Backing Rawat as of now, he would have to take on a different and tough role of taking on the spinners and his success will decide the freedom the pillars of this batting lineup would get. RCB will walk in again with a small tail and their usage of Hasaranga who is a competent batter but is yet to yield dividends as a batter for RCB will be interesting.

Siraj and Willey/Parnell got the ball to swing up front and had done a commendable job by taking key wickets on a wicket which was on the flatter side despite the harsh field restrictions.

With Wanindu coming back in, RCB will have a wicket-taker in the middle overs and this should lead to more opportunities for Shahbaz and Maxwell the bowlers as they often look to bowl based on matchups and to keep the economy low. Death bowling is once again an issue but I believe that Harshal Patel can solve these problems. Despite having a rough few months, he still has the guile while bowling with his clever use of variations which should start working soon enough. RCB might look into bringing Akash Deep as a middle-over enforcer with his high pace and becomes another pace bowling option.

Delhi Capitals

Warner will be happy to bat in Bengaluru where runs will be easier to get. Despite getting some runs under his belt, the strike rate at which he has scored those runs has massively reduced the impact that his runs have. Their batting order has been failing so far and will have to promote Axar if they want to see a change in fortunes. With Marsh back at 3, the onus will be on Powell and Porel to help provide the finishing touch to post a high total on this surface.

DC have the batsmen to score high scores but bad execution and questionable batting order will make it an uphill task for them. Their fans will hope that Warner can continue scoring his runs at a much higher strike rate.

With Mukesh Kumar having taken to the cleaners, DC might look for a better option to replace him on their roster. The duo of Khaleel and Mustafizur give a good amount of control and their left-arm angle will trouble the RCB batsmen. In a day game where they might not see too much movement, their discipline and the variations of Fizz will be key to keeping the RCB batsmen at bay. Their spin bowling is their main strength. Axar has the ability to bowl at any point of the game and Kuldeep is able to extract spin from any surface. This duo along with Lalit will look to choke the RCB batsmen in the middle overs putting more pressure on the batsmen to take on the Delhi pacers. One spot for concern is the high number of left-arm bowlers while bowling in the death overs. With the balls more likely to fall into the arc of the batsmen, a left-armer like Khaleel and Mustafizur. They will have to be cautious while bowling to Dinesh Karthik who took apart Mustafizur last year and many other left-arm pacers in the death overs.

Probable Playing XI

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey/Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel, Karn Sharma, Mohammed Siraj

They didn’t feel Hardik Pandya’s absence in the last match but he’s a key player for his team with both bat and ball.
