Whenever an ICC tournament starts, the most anticipated and highly awaited match is the clash of the Asian arch-rivals India and Pakistan. India
India entered the tournament as one of the favourites and played their first game according to the reputation. They bundled Ireland for just 96 runs, due to a combined bowling effort led by Man of the Match Jasprit Bumrah. Hardik Pandya taking 3 important wickets was another positive from the game.
Other than losing India’s latest opening batsman Virat Kohli cheaply, India never found chase to be difficult. Rishabh Pant came in at 3 and played a knock of 36* in 26 deliveries. Captain Rohit Sharma finished his IPL with a half-century and started this WT20 with the same but retired hurt after he was hit on his shoulder, but is now declared fit for the game against Pakistan.
Pakistan
Pakistan’s loss to the USA might be the biggest upset in their history. Pakistan never played according to their capabilities, especially in the batting department. The pitch was never supporting bowlers to the extent Pakistan’s batting line-up wanted us to believe. Captain Babar Azam scoring almost run-a-ball 44 was the main reason Pakistan lost the match despite a good knock from Shadab and a cameo from Shaheen at the end.
Babar didn’t even start bowling with Naseem which delayed the fall of the first wicket. Things started going in their favour after the wicket of Andries Gous and captain Monank, but 6 and 4 on the final 3 balls helped the match to go in the super over. Brain-dead bowling led Amir to bowl 3 wides (7 runs) in the Super Over, and USA made 18 runs. Pakistan made just 13, and the USA won by 5 runs, registering the biggest win in their cricketing history.

The pitch in New York was playing like hell for the batsmen in the first two games. The team batting first was unable to cross 100 in either match. ICC accepted its mistake and declared to better the pitch in New York for further matches. The game of Canada vs Ireland took place here, Canada registered a score of 137 and won the game by 12 runs. We hope the pitch continues to improve so we can get a good India vs Pakistan game on the 9th of June.

Virat Kohli
Whenever India plays a T20 game against Pakistan, Virat Kohli is the most important player for India. Against Pakistan, he has scored 488 runs in 10 games at an average exceeding over 80 with 5 half centuries. His 82* is the most special knock played at MCG in the 2022 T20 World Cup. It is arguably the best T20I knock, and his six of Haris Rauf’s delivery can be named in Virat’s most iconic shots.
Mohammad Amir
Amir may have conceded 18 against the USA in the super-over, but his importance and role against India are unmatchable. He has played just 2 T20Is against India but has given just 29 runs in 7 overs, taking 4 wickets with a best figure of 3/18. He also took the wickets of the Indian top three and prevented India from winning the 2017 Champions Trophy. Amir is making a comeback after almost half a decade and would look to leave a mark on his legacy while playing against India.
