AUS vs BAN: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream 11 Team for Match 43 of World Cup 2023

Dead Rubber for one team, Do or Die for another. Australia will take on Bangladesh on Saturday morning for the last league game for both teams.

Bangladesh had the worst tournament in their recent history, but they still have something to achieve, i.e., Champions Trophy qualification, with 4 teams battling for 2 spots, Bangladesh would be looking to win this game and qualify for CT 2025.

For Australia, this game should be a practice game, they can try different combinations before the big semis.

Team Preview

Bangladesh

Shakib Al Hasan has planned his retirement after the 2025 Champions Trophy, but Bangladesh is now in a tricky position to even qualify for the CT 2025. Mahmudullah carried the Bangladeshi batting unit in 2015 and is doing the same in 2023, which shows Bangladesh have made no improvement. Shakib is unavailable for this match, so he would hope that his team get his retirement dream fulfilled.

Bangladesh has problems in all departments, they would be hoping that each and every player gives his level best so that they can ensure a CT spot.

Even if Bangladesh lose tomorrow, they need to make sure that Australia doesn’t win by 175 runs assuming Australia hits 300 or Australia chases the target in 23 overs with the same assumption, so that Sri Lanka won’t be getting past their net run rate.

Australia

For Australia, it is just like a practice game, they can address all their issues in batting or bowling. Apart from the big show by Maxwell, Australia was dominated by Afghans in all departments. Both Smith and Labuschagne are not in great form, neither is Mitchell Marsh apart from his 100 against Pakistan. Australia would want them to get their form back.

Starc is not the same as he used to be in World Cups, he also needs to find his form before the big semis. There is still confusion over Marcus Stoinis or Cameron Green or they can give a game to Sean Abbott who is the only player from the Australian squad not to feature in any of the games.

Probable Playing XI

Bangladesh: Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto(c), Mushfiqur Rahman(wk), Mahmudullah, Towid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam.

Shakib Al Hasan is ruled out, so Bangladesh can go with Nasum Ahmed or Mahedi Hasan. Mustafizur Rahman is expected to be back.

Australia: David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Josh Inglis(wk), Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa.

Maxwell recovering from his injury can be rested, Cameron Green can be tried in his place, and Sean Abbott can come in for any of the pace trio.

Pitch Report

It is a day game so no dew factor to come in. The pitch is considered to be placid and good for batting, high skyscrapers can be seen on the runs per over graph. There can be some assistance to the pacers early on with the ball, but later on, it would be nice for batting.

Players To Watch Out For

David Warner

David Warner has been in absolutely stunning form in this World Cup. He has scored 446 runs in 8 innings with an average of 55.75. Warner would be looking to continue his great form against Bangladesh and be in good touch for the knockout stage. He alongside Travis Head is very crucial for Australia in the knockouts.

Mahmudullah

Mahmudullah came into the World Cup as a wildcard entry but has been their best performer with the ball till now. He has scored 296 runs with an average of 59.2. In his last World Cup game, he would like to deliver a performance to be remembered for ages and get his team a spot in the Champions Trophy 2025.
