Gujarat Titans will clash with Mumbai Indians in Match 57 of Tata IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium. It will be an exciting contest as both the teams seem equally strong considering the fact that MI has been in great form in the last few games and will play at their home ground.
This will be a crucial contest for both of them as GT will be looking forward to making their spot secure in playoffs and also increase chances of playing the first qualifier.
Whereas MI will also be looking to make one more step towards their qualification spot and get considerably ahead of the other franchises who are still in the qualification race.
Team Preview
Mumbai Indians
MI has been quite inconsistent this season but is totally unstoppable on their day which was clearly visible in their match against RR, PBKS and RCB. They comfortably chased huge totals in these 3 matches. They have an explosive batting lineup with Kishan, Sky, Green and David and two promising youngsters, Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera. However, their skipper hasn’t contributed much with the bat.
However, MI’s bowling is a matter of concern. They have conceded 4 200+ totals this season which is the most by any team. Only Piyush Chawla and Behrendorff have done well with the ball for them this season. Their death bowling has been terrible.
Gujarat Titans
The Titans have been having a solid campaign with almost everything settled. They are the favourite contenders for this season and are most likely to defend their title. Both their openers are in solid form and now Hardik has also started firing up. They also have reliable finishers like Miller and Tewatia and even Rashid can score some quick runs in the end overs.
Their bowling attack has also been very impressive. The spin duo of Noor and Rashid is very dangerous for any opposition. Shami is also leading the pace department very well getting those crucial early wickets in the powerplay.
Pitch Report
The pitch at Wankhede Stadium is a batsman-friendly surface, with the ball coming onto the bat nicely and offering good bounce and carry. The short boundaries also make it easier for the batsmen to score runs.
However, the pitch at Wankhede can also assist the spinners, especially in the later stages of the match when the ball tends to grip the surface and turn sharply.
